Resident Alien: Go Behind the Scenes of Harry and D'arcy's Groovy Time-Travel Roadtrip (WATCH)
The Resident Alien team has wanted to tackle an episode with time-travel shenanigans for years.

This story contains spoilers for Resident Alien Season 4, Episode 3, "Ties That Bind."
Groovy! Resident Alien turned the clock back 55 years in Season 4, Episode 3, "Ties That Bind," with a trip to Maine, circa 1970.
The show, of course, is no stranger to messing with the time-space continuum after the whole Goliath business back in Season 2. But Season 4 takes our heroes and throws them back in time... only for them to accidentally reunite with a familiar face.
In the episode, Harry (Alan Tudyk) and D'arcy (Alice Wetterlund) step back in time to retrieve a piece of Grey technology that the former hopes to swap for his stolen alien life-force. Once there, however, they realize the device is currently in the hands of General Eleanor McCallister, played by Linda Hamilton, who hopes to use it as a way to convince her father that extra-terrestrials do exist and prevent his suicide from ever happening.
What's more, if Harry does hand over the object to the Greys, they will use it to destroy his entire planet.
Thankfully, he doesn't go through with it, but the character's willingness to sell out his own people does prove just how far he's come since he showed up on Earth to wipe out humanity without a second thought.
Go behind the scenes of Resident Alien Season 4, Episode 3, "Ties That Bind"
"We had talked about doing an episode where someone gets in a time machine and goes into the past for a couple years now," creator, showrunner, and executive producer Chris Sheridan reveals in a special look behind-the-scenes at the season's third episode (above). "An opportunity arose this year to be able to do it ... The cast had a blast going back in time. I think Alice being able to wear that outfit was enough for her. She loved it."
"D'arcy is very eager to go on this mission, partially because D'arcy is eager go on any mission," adds Wetterlund, who particularly enjoyed filming the scene in which she interacts with a police officer who catches her trying to break into the general's car. In a rather poor effort to hide her identity as a time traveler, D'arcy introduces herself as "Carol Brady," unaware that The Brady Bunch began airing the year before.
