Yes, the White Collar Cast Is Still Close IRL: Matt Bomer Would Reunite with Them "in a Heartbeat"

“I’m still good friends with all of them," Matt Bomer said of his fellow White Collar cast. "We have dinner. We’re on a text chain together.”

In White Collar, the stylish and clever crime drama that aired on USA Network from 2009 to 2014, Matt Bomer starred as the charismatic con artist Neal Caffrey.

Eleven years and various high-profile roles later, the ever-appealing Bomer said he’s totally game to bring back the series with his former castmates.

“I would do it in a heartbeat,” Bomer told Jimmy Fallon, during his appearance as a guest on The Tonight Show. “That was my first television family.”

Buzz of an in-the-works White Collar reboot has been in the air for some time, MSN has reported. So, Bomer getting re-Caffrey-nated may well be in the cards. Call us psyched!

What was Matt Bomer’s role on White Collar?

White Collar Season 2 Cast pose in a high rise apartment.

Caffrey, a highly skilled forger, thief and flimflammer who oozed charm, was introduced on the show as a prisoner who’d escaped lockup to connect with his girlfriend. Sweet.

But he was caught by FBI Agent Peter Burke (the ace Tim DeKay), who’s great at his job and married to an amiable event planner, Elizabeth, (Tiffani Thiessen).

Instead of going back to prison, Caffrey offers Burke a deal: he’ll help the FBI catch white-collar criminals in exchange for his freedom. The late Willie Garson played Caffrey’s BFF Mozzie.

The entertaining odd-couple vibe between buttoned-up Burke and crafty Caffrey was key to the series. The dynamic added dramatic heft over the show’s six seasons.

Matt Bomer’s career beyond White Collar

Since the series ended in 2014, Bomer has been on a roll — actually one role after the other. He starred in Ryan Murphy’s American Horror Story and earned well-deserved praise for his Golden Globe-winning role in the drama The Normal Heart.

Bomer’s credits include Magic Mike XXL, Doom Patrol, and The Boys in the Band. In 2023, his performance as a closeted State Department official in the McCarthy era in the Showtime series Fellow Travelers earned him kudos.

In March 2025, Mid-Century Modern, a sitcom about gay besties in Palm Springs that Bomer stars in with Nathan Lane, debuted on Hulu. Bomer visited The Tonight Show around the show’s premiere to talk about it.

Fallon happily seized the moment to mention White Collar. “That was a good show … a good premise,” the host said. “Would you ever think of maybe reuniting or bringing the show back?”

“I would do it in a heartbeat,” Bomer responded, grinning as he recalled his former cast members. “I’m still good friends with all of them. We have dinner. We’re on a text chain together.”

Fallon admitted he’d eagerly watch a reboot. “I would love to see it.”

We’re with you, Jimmy. And that’s no con!
